Energy Drinks Health Concerns For You

Energy Drinks HealthLately energy drinks health has been a major cause for concern for a variety of reasons. These drinks seem to be everywhere you look. Their marketing strategies are to hit people between high school and about thirty years of age. Now unfortunately it is changing to hit younger kids which can be a problem.

Energy drinks got their name because they promise to provide you with energy when you need it the most. They have a variety of flavors to make it easier for individuals to consume without hating the taste or feeling that it is too bitter like some believe coffee is. The issue for many is the amount of caffeine that is in these drinks, the ingredients and the risk factors.

One of the main problems with these drinks is the fact that when you consume these drinks fast you are rushing the caffeine into your system. It is quickly going through your blood stream and that raises your blood sugar levels. Aside from that, your blood pressure also rises.

Like with everything else, once you caffeine starts to leave your body you start to feel tired and in some cases very lazy. This is not the main problem however; due to individuals not wanting to feel this they then drink another one. This shows that they are addictive and the more you consume the more addicted you get to them.

Dehydration is a major concern for these products. Caffeine in your body starts to cause extra fluid to be removed from your kidneys. This pushes the water out of you and starts to dehydrate your body. It is even worse if you drink an energy drink while you are already sweating because you can get dangerously dehydrated very quickly.

Many college students can find themselves passed out in the morning or sick due to mixing these with alcohol. Although lately it seems to be extremely cool to mix them so that individuals stay alert while drunk, both of them remove liquid from your body. Combines your body will become dehydrated much faster and without fluids you can get seriously ill.

So what is the biggest health concern for many people that you can find in energy drinks? That is simple, depression. Not only depression due to your body craving your next caffeine hit but your actual central nervous system. Once this part of you becomes depressed, it is possible for a person to vomit during their sleep. Doing so can suffocate them or put them into respiratory distress due to chocking on their vomit. The outcome can be catastrophic.

There are many energy drinks health concerns that adults and teens should be aware of. It is never a good idea to drink loads of caffeine and sugar and that is all an energy drink is aside from the extra ingredients that many do not know about. It is important to remember that these drinks add no vitamins or minerals to you and can only hurt your health, not help it.  If you felt this article was helpful please share it with your friends.
